2015-03-20

The conference „From State Art to Creative Industries / Transformation of Gender, Political and Religious Narratives“ will be held in Zagreb, 20 - 22 March, 2015 at the Croatian Association of Artists. It was created with the aim of celebrating the European Day of Artistic Creativity within the CreArt project, as a part of the Culture programme 2007 – 2013. The conference will be implemented in three phases: educational (conference), creative (workshops) and exhibition. The aim of the project is to connect local institutions through interactive participation on a given topic. It will be held in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb and the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.

Conference speakers will give talks on the emergence of myths in the contexts of culture, gender, politics and religion, which is the starting point for the emergence of different cult rituals producing alternative cultural and social interactions. The objective of such research is to look for answers in the processes of numerous humanistic and social sciences; from history, ethnology and socio-cultural anthropology, art history to gender and political theory.

The conference, with the participation of invited and selected speakers and students from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, will be structured in four thematic sessions: gender narrative, myth, transformations and meanings and censorship and echoes. Furthermore, the workshops will be moderated by keynote speakers: Nida Vasiliauskaitė (LT), Gintautas Mažeikis (LT) and Eugene V.
