Communication plays an important function in contemporary society and a decisive role in the artistic context. On the one hand, it gives visibility to artists and their works, allowing them to reach different audiences and renown [who and what is not seen does not exist], on the other, the media attention may confer some banality to art and raise “massive presence” to artists, facts do not always favor their prestige and recognition.

The proliferation of media and, nowadays, the increasing use [sprinkled] of technological means, speeds up this process, generalizes the access to art and extends the sphere of artists on a global scale. That enhances their projection and increases competition, but also amplifies vulgarity, requiring these same artists a greater concern with originality and creating something that marks the difference. At the same time, the diversity and the affluence of information on the artists and their creations imposes on the part of journalists, art critics and experts, a renewed work on the analysis and the way they communicate and give importance to contemporary artistic creation.

Find the balance of these two worlds, for which competes also the bond between a traditional notion of work of art, understood as precious, and the success measured by the recognition and affirmation in the art market, is therefore a central issue worth led to discussion bringing together its direct participants: artists, media experts and art critics.
